This is the second (and last) installment of this season’s previews. Unknowingly I picked quite a number of shorts/shorter-than-full episodes this season. Maybe I will be able to follow some of these throughout the whole three months!
Sono Toki, Kanojo wa
A series of shorts about love.
The anime will take place in Fukuoka, and will follow the love lives of four female protagonists as high school students, college students, and as working adults.
This could be pretty bad or pretty good. One of the problems some people have with the series already is that it looks like it will be purely heterosexual. On the other hand, so was Tsurezure Children and that was very well received. My expectations so far are high in the art style department, but I’m a little worried as to how the story/stories will be. Anyway, this is airing today!
The comedy anime centers on five girls and one cat all living as housemates in Nakano, Tokyo: the three Himote sisters (Tokiyo, Kinami, and Kokoro) whose family manages the “Himote House,” Kokoro’s classmates Tae and Minamo, and the cat Enishi. The girls live their daily lives trying to figure out ways to be popular, and they (and the cat) all possess a mysterious secret power…
The reason I didn’t pick this myself is that I don’t sense anything special from the summary. Cute girls (and a cat) and secret powers just doesn’t pull at my heartstrings. It’s been done, badly and well.
Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san
The comedy manga’s story centers on a skeleton named Honda who works in a bookstore. Hilarity ensues daily in his work at the shop’s manga counter.
Unfortunately from the three promotional videos published so far, the animation is low budget and the story repetitive. Having worked in a bookstore, I don’t think the anime has any more knowledge to impart upon me.
Additionally, I haven’t been able to get my hands on the original manga. From the couple of untranslated pages I deemed the manga a little below average. In all, this might be the biggest letdown of the season for me.
You know what was a good bookshop anime? Denki-gai no Honya-san.
That’s all, folks!
Is there anything interesting I missed this season? Let me know!
